July 1st, 2015, Seminole, FL & Ft. Sam Houston, TX. All US ARMY Orthopedic Technologists can now take the Registered Orthopedic Technologist Certification Exam and receive needed promotion points. Over 150 Army Orthopedic Technologists are eligible to take the ROT exam in this ASOP/ARMY partnership. This is part of a new program between the US Army and ASOP to provide a pathway for Army Orthotechs to transition to civilian positions when the time comes. “ASOP is committed to helping active service personnel achieve success in the military as well as civilian life”, said Charles Barocas, Director of ASOP. Barocas, himself a former Army Medic, Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart recipient, has made helping these techs a priority mission for ASOP. In addition to the certification partnership, ASOP has also consulted with the Army in production of 12 Orthopedic Power Point Presentations to enhance the curriculum at the Tri-forces School of Orthopedic Technology and has initiated the new Military Liaison Co-Director position at ASOP.
Barocas will be visiting the Army’s School of Orthopedic Technology at Ft. Sam Houston and presenting SFC Heather Flores with The Master Caster Certificate that she recently earned at the ASOP Annual National Meeting in Las Vegas.
