The Exam
This examination is taken in "open book" format. That means you are free to answer the questions after research or discussion with your fellow workers. We feel this exam will encourage you to review your knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology, Orthopedic Medicine and Trauma. The Certification Exam in Orthopedics is designed to allow you to show what you know about orthopedics, not what you don't know.

The exam, including research, will take approximately 5-10 hours to complete. You are encouraged to use the Internet, your office library, fellow workers as a learning resource. There is no time limit for returning the completed exam to ASOP for grading. A grade of 85% or higher is passing. Those who do not pass the exam can retake the exam at no charge and should consider taking the correspondence course in Orthopedic Technology before retaking the exam.
